All it consists of is a runny/stuffed up nose, and this terrible cough that WILL NOT go away. It's not painful or anything, not leaving my throat sore, it's just so annoying, and preventing me from going to school. No medication I've tried has stopped it. I've tried DayQuil, Delsym, and some form of tylenol cold (day and night time versions.) Coughdrops helped a little, and so does drinking warm liquids, orange juice seemed to help too. I've also been taking Airborne quite often, which is a supplement of all sorts of herbs and vitamins to help you get over a cold faster. Normally it helps me get over a cold in 3 or 4 days, but this isn't the case. I went to the doctor and they told me to give it another week, or to come back if it was accompanied by a fever (which it isn't.) I can't afford to miss any more school.

So does anyone have any suggestions? This is the 4th day of school I've missed.

well i think you need lots of rest and water and some fruits. and light meal. you can't take heavy foods when you are not feeling well. just continue with your cold medicines and for sure you will get well soon.

Well we did just talk about this in AIM but I'll post.

Just make sure you're better soon because you nee dto pass in your course selection sheet by next Thursday. I doubt it'll take that long though, especially if you take everyone else's advice.

Also, HA! You just got kicked off AIM! (The connection broke or something and he had to sign on again)

Airborne is a good cure-all supplement, but I wouldn't recommend taking it more than once a day. It has very high doses of vitamins and some questionable herbs. My recommendations to get rid of your cold: Take 1-2 grams of vitamin C when you wake up along with The Vitamin Shoppe brand Echinacea Golden Seal Complex (if you can't get the latter, at least get the former). Take the same at lunch time. Take Airborne right before you go to bed. Get LOTS of NIGHT rest (not day naps, they don't do much good). Try to get 10 hours of night rest until you get better. If possible, do NOT take antihistamines before bed; they affect your deep sleep which is very important when you're sick. Eat healthy, nutritious foods and whole grains. And constantly be drinking water. The best thing to do is to keep hydrated as much as possible. If you like warm water, fine, but just make sure you drink more than enough.

I think that you need lots of rest and water. Water therapy is still the best. Of course, you still have to take the medicines you were prescribed. Get well soon!

I noticed just this morning that the cough seems to be much worse in the morning. I'm guessing this is because the heat is on at night and it dries out my throat. I tried drinking tea and water and neither seems to have slowed the coughing much. I guess I'll just keep drinking and hope it goes away before I have to leave.

Get a humidifier in your room and maybe find something that moisturizes the throat.

It sounds like you want to go back to school. If you was me, I would be trying to keep myself from going to school. Maybe that's just me though. Anyways I hope you get better soon.
