Just a question, but first, some background information (yes!) On other forums I would make comics based on the members. These comics would make fun of the members- often myself because I know myself best- and rely fairly heavily on certain gimmicks that depend on who it is I'm parodying. Like- for an example- if I had to think of someone to parody right now... hm... take AJ for example, he doesn't read, so there's always an idea for a joke there like how he CAN'T read. I know, bad example but hey. Sadly I'd end up using that once at least.
They would also be satirical at times, sometimes using more complex jokes, like I made fun of one member once who was always quoting Nietzsche (
Friedrich Nietzsche - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) but that went over some peoples heads. But to be honest, I tend to keep the comics pretty simple, I guess the novelty of it is that YOU will be made fun of (not in a completely serious, hateful way unless I actually don't like you) and be a main character, thus making it more funny than it really is.
One "problem" with them though, is that I'm not graphically talented: they were made with Paint, and sometimes I would do a weird effect of some sort with Photoshop. I don't declare myself as an expert comic maker and if anybody else besides the forum saw it they'd be like "oh my god, beginner!!!" and it's true, I am. In a sense. I rely more on the JOKES themselves and minimalism. For example, there will hardly ever be a background image, it'll usually just be white, with some kind of sprite (sometimes they're drawn on paint but more often they're just sprites from games, I think that's another novelty that helps). Sometimes though I'll feel adventurous and actually place some background (no matter how simple) but generally I find it just adds to the time and I would much rather just crank them out every half hour to an hour. Gets more done that way.
So, simply put: The visual quality sucks.
It's gotten good reception when I've done it from most people.
So now, finally, my question is. Does that kind of thing have a place here?
Keep in mind I may not do it, as I can only do it if I notice things about members, but I'd like to know if the option is there.
Yes.
