According to the site, they're going this in order to raise awareness to "Earth Hour."

I'm impressed. Glad to see google taking notice of global friendly events, such as this one.

I think it's nice that Google, obviously a big search engine and an important part of our lives, is acknowledging it. But you'd have to turn on a computer to see it. I'm not saying this is good or bad but consider things like Live Earth, where they want to raise awareness by having a massive concert. Think of the energy used AND the fact that people just won't get it anyways. Or the whole idea of "throwing money at poverty" and expecting it to go away while living in a system that allows poverty to exist.

I'm not really dissing Google because awareness is everything... you need to make people aware of the problems before anything can be done. I'm also not as earth friendly as I could be, so I'm to blame as well.

Personally, I mean, despite everything I say or do on this forum or in "real life", I'm well aware that our earth and society is so crapped up that it probably can't be fixed. And if it can, I'll be long dead.

I'm really just letting out my conflicting thoughts here.

well... i think its pretty cool and they should leave it that way all the time....

I dunno why but I like they way google looks with its 'lights' off....

ya i was sitting in a chair and my dad was ont he laptop and i was like wtf is up with google other then elmer fudd lol and i said is it black and he said wow what a racist!

Wouldn't do much if they left it there all the time.

Plus if you read the article, it uses the same energy to put black on a monitor than to put white.
