Last movie I watched besides The Godfather (see MoTM), was 8 1/2. A movie about making a movie that is largely seen as THE movie about making a movie. Scorsese said that that movie, along with Peeping Tom, is all that can be said about directing. It's a black and white movie with real solid acting and even though the plot seems simple, it's actually quite challenging because the movie moves seemlessly from dreams/memories and reality and doesn't tell you which is which.

The beginning was awesome, the camera work was really kinetic and really pulled me in.

See this movie.

The last movie I watched was clockers. That was the other day. Can anyone recommend hip hop related films please? I will get some if I know them.

Last movie I saw was Seven Samurai. It's a Japanese movie about uh, Seven Samurai (ronin) who defend a village of farmers from invading bandits. This is a movie that gave birth or at least popularized a bunch of cliches you've seen in movies. It's regularly present on Top 10 movie lists and it deserves it. I wouldn't say it's a top 10 for me but I can see why so many people would put it there.

So yeah, you should see it. Though who here will go out after reading my recommendation and rent it? No one!

Yeah I mostly download too. I don't have the money right now to rent/buy when I want. But I made a list of movies to buy... I think I've said this before.

Isn't it like coincidently close to his life. Like, from what I've read, it seems to be based around actual occurences in his life, but its not like its an autobiography.

Well there's biographical elements but it's just exaggerated. He knows how to entertain. That's what he did with Slim Shady too.

Anyways, seems like I've been on a "classics" kick lately. The Godfather, Seven Samurai and NOW, Chinatown. Chinatown is my favourite of the 3. I love it. It's a film noir with Jack Nicholson. I love how they make a time and place sound so intimidating, like you're scared to explore that but you're still curious.
