Double Indemnity- A great film noir that laid the ground work for future noirs. Great acting, good story, solid suspense, ggreat lighting.

Anyways, today I watched a short film by one of my fave directors, Andrei Tarkovsky. And it was called The Streamroller and the Violin. The name says it all. I saw it as industrialization and beauty, basically. Also, the end was pretty sad... But I love Tarkovsky so of COURSE I recommend this.

I also watched a documentary called The Dark Side of Porn, Does Snuff Exist? and it was pretty good. It gave a history of movies (like Cannibal Holocaust, which I've talked about before), that kind of invented the myth of snuff. It had Eli Roth in it. He's the maker of Hostel if you don't know, so he was pretty fitting for this. It didn't have answers or anything, it just set out to explain where the myth has come from. But no doubt that somewheres, in some subculture, snuff does exist.

It addressed the problems of the internet, as well, which we all are aware of, since we spend too much time on here

Pretty good movie. Nothing amazing but it's 50 mins out of my life so it was worth watching.

If you don't know what snuff is, imagine this: You video tape yourself or someone murdering someone else, then you sell it. That's snuff.

Parasite Eve- There. I've watched the movie. I've read the book that the movie is based on. And I've played (and absolutely love) Parasite Eve 1 and the, not as good, Parasite Eve 2. Don't even get me started on what I think about the new PE game that's coming (ON CELL PHONES???)

So what's the movie like? Well! It's a really slow paced (but so was the book) horror/thriller about obsession and mitochondria. I'm not a biologist, but it seems to have roots in real science, and it builds a compelling story from it, even if, obviously, it's far fetched. Wouldn't have a movie if it wasn't. I don't want to ruin any of it because it's really an experience when you don't know what's going to happen. I basically did because I've read the book and they don't differ much from each other.

The lighting is superb and helps create an amazing atmosphere.

The camera work is really great too, right from the opening shot, which is from a birds eye view and indeed, there's some symbolism involving birds in there. Other great shots include an ear shot, and well... every camera angle is brilliant in helping create the wonderful atmosphere I mentioned, such as a dark, dank hospital.

Some of the special effects look cheap/lame, but it's not a big deal because people catch on fire, which is always cool.

There are some really haunting scenes, like a speech, some really touching scenes, like the ending. I love love love this movie... it's a new edition to the top 25 I made in my livejournal.

Edit: Wow, the director also did the horrible Shutter... wtf happened to him?? What a piece of shit it was, outside of a couple scares that only scared me because it played on a weakness I have.

I have watched Hallow Man 2, Spider-Man 2, Sleepy Hallows, and what it called now?... Oh yes Monster in Law.

Right now. Police Acadamy Five is one. I am watching bits of it.
