So we all know that the Earth is spinning as it travels around the sun. And that you use a high speed film for action so you don't get a blurry picture. So, if you get creative you can put two and two together, and get something interesting.
For about 15 minutes, the camera sat on a tripod, which holds it steady, and keeps the foreground sharp. The buildings don't move relative to the camera. But the planet is rotating, which makes the stars seem to move across the night sky. And they're bright enough to leave a trail ( like a car that went by ), so in 15 minutes an ordinary night looks like a meteor shower.
