Yet another spoof movie recently came out in theatres, Meet the Spartans. The commercials for this one actually gave the movie an appearance of value, something that hasn’t been seen in a spoof movie since the original Scary Movie. Truth in advertising has a tendency to be lacking when it comes to movies these days however, and this one was no different.

This was a classic case of taking each and every funny moment in the movie and packaging it up nicely for the trailers. The rest of the movie, however, was very lackluster. This movie was simply the biggest letdown in a comedy since Black Sheep, in my opinion. While Black Sheep had its moments, each of those moments was in the advertisement, so you are left wondering why you paid good money to watch very little more than the commercials gave out. Meet the Spartans was the same type of let down, always waiting for it to get funny again, when it’s really never going to.

In addition to the fact that the parts not include in the advertisement weren’t worthwhile, the parts that seemed so hilarious in those small clips, weren’t nearly as funny when taken in the context of the movie. The movie tried too hard to use homosexual stereotypes as a means to gain laughs, and really did little more than annoy the average viewer. While these jokes made many laugh once, and possibly even a second time, by the time we’re over an hour into the movie and it continues to be the main plotline, it starts to grate on everyone’s nerves.

So for those that are thinking about spending their money to see this movie, I strongly urge that you save your money. It’s simply not worth it. At best you will leave disappointed, and at worst you’ll leave annoyed and with a bad taste in your mouth. I just wish someone had told me before I wasted my time on this movie.

Many of my friends went in a big group to see the movie. They came back extremely upset and yelled that it was the worst movie they ever saw. Apparently, it was worse than Epic Movie, which I also heard was pretty bad.

I still want to see it though - just to see for myself.

I wouldn't say it's the worst movie I ever saw. It had a few funny parts. They over did it with the gay jokes, though. But, yes, it wasn't too good.
