Default Can you hear this?

Can you hear this? It's a high-pitched tone. Older people aren't supposed to be able to hear it, and I'm interested to see who can. I can hear it.

O god. This was an epidemic back in high school last year. Everyone had that type of ringer on their phone, so none of the teachers could hear it. There was like 20 of those going off all the time at lunch, it was terrible.

I don't think that there is one specific age at which a person cannot hear it. It probably varies from person to person.

Dunno, its common you lose your senses as you get older, so its probably just person dependent on how fast you keep your senses intact.

You know how when you hear a loud sound, your ears ring a little bit?

Did you know that's the last time your going to hear that pitch ever again? Your eardrums are damaged and you'll never be ever to hear that frequency again.

it is really loud to me... like almost drowns out everything else... i took a hearing test at one of those hearing centers at the front of walmart least the walmart here has one.. and they tell you to raise your hand at different sounds and the guy there was pretty amazed at some of the frequencies i could pick up... he pulled a dog wistle from his pocket that he uses to call his dog at home and i could barely hear it.. but still could hear it.

That's pretty amazing actually. I know that the human ear has its limits at around 20,000 Hz, and dog whistles range from about 16,000 to 22,000 Hz. So the dog whistle was a lower frequency or you have inhuman ears.
