That only applies if you are upgrading from XP. It's a good idea to try it on a separate partition first, just to see how well it will actually work with your computer, so that if you decide you don't like the way it runs on your computer you still have the XP and you can just delete the Vista partition. Remember -- once you go from XP to Vista, there is no going back. You can't "downgrade" to XP, you would have to reformat.

i have xp on my computer. its a little old for vista. i think i could put it on, but i bet it would be really slow.

I have a better tip - don't install Windows Vista, period. It isn't yet ready for mainstream distribution. Microsoft hasn't taken the time to fix critical issues and bugs yet.

My Pentium 4 can run Vista OK, I just dont because I like how XP does things better

thanks for those tips. i am surely going to remember it so that when i need to install vista i will have no problems. vista i think is much harder to install compared with other OS.

Linux is easy to install, but sometimes stuff requires knowledge of UNIX Command Line...

great tips. i will surely going to follow all those tips once i have downloaded that vista program. but still it is not really worth the prize. that was too expensive.
