It’s HERE!! The latest firmware update (3.90) for Sony’s Playstation Portable are now available.

The following outlines the key feature updates in version 3.90:
Skype has been added as a feature under Network. (This is ONLY for the PSP Slim as it requires additional memory only found in the PSP Slim’s)

Support for PLAYSTATION Network titles has been expanded.

The Update is awesome! I called my house from my psp like five minutes ago and it came in perfect.

Well it's skype. You just need a headset, and a hotspot.

Yeah, you can just think where the PSP is going to be in the future. As of right now it does pretty much everything. It plays music, videos, games, views pictures, has a phone, internet, download directly from it, gps, camera and video camera. Should I continue

Heh I love my PSP. I have one of the thicker ones, though, which I really would prefer given the battery life and yes, I know you can put one of the bigger batteries in it, but you get this big bulge and all that. I'm loving the kind-of-newish internet radio function, though. I got it set on one of the comedy/talk channels, and that's working out for me. The regular breaks in the connection (or rather, whatever makes it pause every so often since you don't lose any of the music/conversation/commercial/etc.) are a pain but not too bad.

Unfortunately I'll have no use for Skype. I'll get the update online later if I don't already have it, and I don't think I do.

Yeah, I like how versatile the PSP is. You can have photos and videos stored on the memory card better than an iPod in my opinion, given the better screen and changeable memory. Unfortunately I find it lacks as a music player since it's not very casually portable given its size and whenever you take it out about five people ask if they can play it, despite that you didn't bring any games with it.

But then you got the games. The graphics are more like late PS1 but the games themselves are more like PS2, if that makes any sense to you. I find that most of the ones I have aren't very good, but I do have a few good ones. Then there's the movies on UMD. That's always nice.

In a few more years, I think we'll be looking at new models of PSPs that outdate the old ones in capacity for updates, but even the older ones should be able to do a lot more than they can now, which is still considerable.

This update is only available for the "PSP Slim" because it has the extra memory that skype uses. The fat PSP has 32mb and the slim has 64, also about the battery life it's way better than the old ones. it's a smaller battery and it is more than the old one. I put the one from my old psp in my psp slim and when it was fully charged it said over 11 hours left when in the old psp it was like 4 hours. So battery life on the new one is way better.

Really? I did hear different things about the slim PSP battery, but maybe you have a better battery. As for the memory, I don't know if you mean like a sort of RAM or just the memory card, because I have a 2GB memory card in mine now. It came with a 32MB one. Anyway, you probably do mean RAM, since that's what it would take to run a program like that, not to save one.

And I did get the update. The only change though was more game range.

Yes, I did mean Ram the original has 32 and the new psps has 64mb.
