And your looking to jump into the blu-ray format, I recommend you getting a PS3 at this point. It's one of the cheaper (in terms of price) players you'll get, costing $399.99, but it will be upgradable to profile 2.0 (Internet Connectivity Features). Most 1.0 and 1.1 profile players out there cannot be updated, because they lack an ethernet port. Panasonic is releasing a 2.0 player in the Spring, and from what I've read, they make good blu-ray players.


One more thing, the loading times for blu-ray movies using the PS3 is fast.

Toshiba is expected to formally drop HD DVD this week, according to reports, and Universal and Paramount are expected to support Blu-ray (thought I'd post that).

Finally I can buy a player and know it won't be obsolete in a week. Yay.

Like AJ said, we can have a Blu-Ray player, and know it's not going to be worthless in a short period of time. My suggestion is just getting a PS3 - they come with a Blu-Ray player built in.

i don't think i will be able to afford that PS3 and so i will not be able to buy that blue ray. anyways, i really don't need to watch movies that much. i don't feel it necessary to buy that.

This is huge news for the PS3. They will start selling them now maybe.

yaa well maybe sony should lower the price then people would buy them....woot....

that is really true. sony should lower the price cause as of the moment those gadgets are pretty expensive and i can't really afford to buy one as of now but i want to own one.
