Default Guess what!

My Hitachi Deathstar had its moment with me today...
can you guess what it did? It caused me to lose all 250gb of data I had on it.

I tried backing it up....but the process would abort the moment it found bad sectors...so um....

Ahh...that really sucks. I hate it when that happens. In the computer I'm using now (self-built), I'm running a couple of Samsungs. They've been pretty good so far. Only time will tell...

well this drive has been through alot....it spent two years not working, it needed the connector that connects the motor to the board re soddered, as when I got my new old pc (pc i upgraded to was older than the one I had before....weird huh?) I somehow shaved that connector off...so it spent a while out of a job before my teacher came along and fixed it for me

its been working for some 2 months and now its got read errors.
so I went and replaced it with a 250GB Western Digital thats practically brand new.

ok this is really stupid. Thank you Windows.

I just made a backup of the drive after 3+ hours working on it.
I am now denied access to the backup drive by Windows.

Thank You Microsoft

PS: I tried to access it via Ubuntu: Windows has apparently locked me out of it because "this drive may be part of a RAID setup that may contain multiple disks that may not be connected yet."

If it was part of a multi disk RAID setup, then WHY was I able to write to it and remove the RAID partition? hmm? now I cant do anything besides wipe it...ugh

Well if it has music and or movies/ videos, right down the files and then try to get them again.
