I am being plauged by the blue screen of death now. It's either my computer's old age or its bad memory. It eventually started up without crashing, but after an hour or so of casual websurfing it was sucked back into the vortex of crashing. ![]() So for the rest of the time I'm stuck in my house I have to use my laptop. So I'll put tons of hours on the LCD screen before I get my pc fixed, if dad is willing to get the ram/entire pc replaced. If anyone here has any clue what is going on with it, lemme know, cus its so frustrating to be watching a youtube video then be interrupted with a click and whirr of my hard drive spinning down while my screen quickly changes to a screen that says im screwed lol. ![]() EDIT: Why is Naruto in the related videos list? lol This advertisement is only visible to guests. Here's what I found: 0x0000008E: Possible causes of this error may include the following: Hard disk damage General hardware configuration problems with the BIOS, the memory, the hard disk, or with other devices Incompatible device driver Incompatible software you may want to find some sort of diagnostics disk to narrow the problem down ![]() ![]() |

PC's kinda loud huh? I just ran memtest86 and it says all four of the memory modules are bad. grr I have to sink more money into it (about $200). I think I've spent about... original pc = ~1000 psu + gfx = 320 ram 512mb = 200 new ram = 200 lcd = 250 lcd = 400 lcd = 400 hard drives 80+100+100+100 speakers = 60 keyboard = 150 total = ~$3360 I have ram listed twice because I upped it from 1.5 to 2.0GB when 512mb's were $200. The new ram entry is how much itll probably be to get all four replaced ![]() ![]() Last edited by TrevorL337; 06-18-08 at 02:28 PM. Reason: Forgot to add in the price of the pc I started with |

I'm pretty sure its all four of them there was an error at 215MB (DIMM1), one at 620MB (DIMM2), 1233MB (DIMM3), and 1725MB (DIMM4) Maybe they died from excessive heat buildup, this pc doesnt have a very good ventillation system so it could be attributed to that I think what ill do is test them individually, that should yeild better results ![]() ![]() Last edited by TrevorL337; 06-18-08 at 02:29 PM. |

OK it's just one DIMM, DIMM 4 it might still be able to be saved though cus I looked on google and I found this: MSFN Forums > Is there possibility to repair RAM modules? so since I have nothing to lose, I figured I'd wash it and see what happens ![]() ![]() |

I haven't had a blue screen of death since XP came out. Weird. I thought they got rid of that. Haha, I'm gonna make that my screen saver.

Well if it's just bad memory it's not that big of a deal, it is only like 50.00 for memory, I got a 2gb stick for 50.00.

I'm planning to replace DIMM 4 with a new 512MB from Circuit City tomorrow, I'd get a one gig'er for it but I wanna keep it in dual channel mode, so I gotta use pairs of modules.

Why don't you just get two 1gb sticks? You can do it for $30 these days. I saw 2gb at microcenter for as low as 20, but idk if that's still legit. $40 is the most you'll pay though.
