Good to see you have chosen FireFox. Internet Explorer sucks and should be dropped. Anyways as for Add Ons. That would depend what you do on the Internet. I have various webmastering add ons. I work online.

It depends on the person.

explorer will never go away.. its built in to the core of windows... its actually the shell of windows.. there would be no windows... so until microsoft gets ride of it in their coding it'll always be there and because micrsoft made IE i highley doubt that will ever happen.

It's not really the shell of Windows...Explorer and Internet Explorer are two different things. It can be taken out and not affect the operation of Windows.

It's completely different though. Explorer.exe is the shell. Iexplore.exe is the web browser add-on.

No, the cores are both not the same. Explorer.exe can function without Iexplore.exe. Iexplore.exe USES explorer.exe and thus cannot function without. Notice explorer.exe is about 3MB and iexplore.exe is only about 500KB. The point is that ie can be removed from the computer with no adverse side affects, where as explorer cannot.

i understand that... but what i'm saying is windows is based off explorer iexplorer is the web browser but you can never get rid of explorer.exe windows is based on this and wont function without it... unless you go back to like windows 95 and eventually implemented explorer as the shell at that point and its been that way ever since.

Yeah, I agree with you on that. Explorer is what is needed; IE can be taken out. I guess I misunderstood your original statement.
