I turn it off at the least 6 hours a day. To save energy and help out in the global warming problem and my electric bill problem.

I have it on when I'm using it and between uses if I'm going to be back soon, and even then I turn the monitor off and the unit goes into sleep mode after a while. Otherwise I keep it turned off.

I turn my computer off when I go to bed, or if I know I won't be using it anymore. In other words - only if there will be a long period of time between use.

I always turn the monitor off when I'm not immediately using it, though.

That's funny, my first computer's button worn off as well, so now I have to use a pencil Pretty funny when you think about it...

Our family desktop gets turned off everynight when the last person is done. We've had it for 2 years? And never had a problem. I'll be doing the same with the laptop I just got.

I don't really turn it off unless I'm leaving for more than 12 hours at a time or something near that. It's a hassle having everything boot back up, and I've never noticed a lack of performance on my computer or laptop from constant uptime.

I do make it a point to Hibernate my system whenever I get up. There's no point wasting power running the system. Besides, power cuts in my city make the decision a lot easier anyway..
