The Member of the Month for the month of April is gillibean. To date, she has 409 posts on the forum, 277 being from April (the highest out of any member in April).

Here are some random excerpts from her posts in April.

I’m not forgetting anything. I’d prefer to be dead over being a mindless drone. Besides not all women in the 19th century were mindless drones.
This month was hard to pick. Good luck next time to those who didn’t make it!

Yes, I know, I’m late. I apologize, but rather late than never, I suppose.

The member of the month on PTF for March ‘08 is knoxbox! Congratulations! There are so many other members that I would like to choose for MOTM this month, but unfortunately, I can only pick one. Thank you, active PTF members - we wouldn’t be here without you! You make PTF the best place around for online debates and discussion. Keep it up, and you could be MOTH next month!

Now some may be thinking “isn’t knoxbox that member who posts all those joke threads,” and although he does post a lot of jokes (gotta admit — some are pretty funny!) knoxbox was chosen for March ‘08 because of his dedication to the forums and his contributive posts.

He also made a really great video and posted it to YouTube for our referral contest (still time to participate, by the way).

Some examples of his posts from the last month are as follows:

i truely don’t believe that the bible especially old testament holds any reguards in today society it was written for a different time and very different place… people are smarter and more intellegent than we used to be… we have “evolved” if you will… look at what constitues female clothing of that time? is it anywhere similar to female clothing of our time? look at the opposite male clothing… look at male clothing of jesus’s time… mostly robes were worn… women wore robes too… most pictures you see of jesus not saying that he looks like them… but it had to have started somewhere.. he is in a robe and sash… does this constitute male or female clothing?…

if that makes you feel better, even though your pessemistic then fine… mr. realist… i don’t see anything real about it you can’t believe everything you read on the internet… we survived the last depression and we thrived…

just curious if any of the other members ride a motorcycle…

I’ve probably said this before…

I own:

PTF is having a referral contest with a $20 cash prize, provided by our very own moderator, Danger. Refer as many people as you can to PTF from March 21 - April 21 and you could win the prize! See the original thread.

Details from the original thread:

The point is pretty simple. Refer as many members as you can to the site and earn yourself a pretty spectacular prize. What’s the prize you ask? You’ll have to finish reading the rest of this post to find out. DON’T SKIP TO THE BOTTOM, IT RUINS IT.

Rules are as follows:

1 - Under no circumstances will you spam on other forums, or websites for that matter. It’s considered rude, not allowed here (so that would be hypocritical), and frankly, the staff doesn’t want to deal with people complaining about it to us.

2 - Each referral must post at least 10 posts to count. What’s a new member to us if they don’t post?

3 - I will be keeping track of the number of referrals. I will have them written down, so there will be no discrepancy over who got how many referrals.

4 - If someone joins, but doesn’t put you as the person that referred you here, tough luck for you. Make sure you include the your forum name wherever you advertise, so that they know what name to put down when they register.

5 - The contest will run for one month. I’m not too exactly sure on the date of when it will start, so take advantage and come up with ways to find new members. It will be in the near future, I just need some time to collect the necessary data (aka amount of referrals already for each member).

6 - *Sigh* The prize. What you guys have been waiting for. The prize is a nice $20 cash prize. If you make an exceptional effort and have an incredible amount of new members, there might be a BONUS. Who knows? Work for it!

7 - The money will be sent via Paypal or I can mail you the cash via Snail Mail. Either way I’m giving away $20, so if you chose Snail Mail and it gets lost in the mail, I will not be responsible for re-sending cash. Sorry to say, but not everyone out here is trustworthy.

Again, I personally am giving away the $20 for the benefit of getting this site more active and more enjoyable. If I hear about any cheating of any kind (aka all your referrals have locations near you, and they all have the minimum ten posts, I can tell you just had your friends sign up to post 10 times and then they leave). Please do not encourage members to post nonsensical posts just so they have 10 posts. That would honestly just defeat the whole purpose of this contest. I’m giving away money in hopes this will help the community, not hurt it.

There has been a lot of talk on the forums lately having to do with web browsers. It’s quite clear that the days of Microsoft Internet Explorer are over. There are countless alternatives to IE that are faster, more stable, and more customizable. But the question is — what one are you using? There’s the customizable Mozilla Firefox, the original Opera, the speedy Apple Safari, and many more. The most popular browser amongst the members of PTF is Mozilla Firefox, made clear by the many posts. Take a look at the excerpts below, and be sure to vote in the poll of the week! There’s a thread about the upcoming Internet Explorer 8, Firefox add-ons, and Opera 9. (Register on the forums so that you can participate in the poll and discussion!) Also, here are the browser stats for the PTF forum for the month of March, 2008. Exact numbers are backed out, but the percents are there.

I hate IE. It’s so slow, it’s full of crap. Mozilla is lightweight, and has tons of add-ons that you can download. Safer, too.

If you enjoy movies, I strongly urge you to take a look at our movie club. You’ll be very surprised at the in-depth discussion that we have. Below are some excerpts from this month’s discussion thread.

Carlo might not have been eating an orange, but I thought it was pretty neat that they would have Carlo wearing an orange suit.

I also noticed that the children were very rarely in the arms of the men. This portrayal kind of resembles that the Mafia men are only there for business, and the women are there for…

Remember at the beginning when the guy comes in begging him to take revenge on the young men who beat his daughter? Don Vito was insulted by his way of asking him to do it, not giving him respect as a friend and only demanding it be done with the incentive of money. I noticed that Don Vito is all about respect, while Michael never…

He denounces Satan and all his works, while his men are committing murders for him. I think this just shows that despite what Michael truly wanted, to be head of the family, he must…

Though he does certainly command respect through fear there’s also a certain vulnerability about his character that he…

Another seen that choke me up was Don Vito playing with his grandson. He seemed like such a child himself. It further proved how important family is and it also put some light and more depth into…

There have been many other prophecies like this before, yet none have come true. Do you think this one is real? Join in on the discussion at the forums.

I don’t think it’s a big deal. It’s probably going to be the same thing like the new millenium crap on new year’s.

Have you heard of Nostradamus’ 1999 prophecy? That was based on the fact that he got many predicted things right. But it didn’t happen. There are many others, as well. The fact is that we will never know when the end will be until it happens.

The big question, PC users. Which is better? Good ol’ Intel, or bargained-priced AMD?

From experience building PCs, I personally prefer Intel. I currently have an Intel Core 2 Duo in my system. They seem to be more reliable, faster, handle heat better, etc. AMDs seem to be cheaply made. Visit the AMD vs. Intel thread and join in on the discussion. In one post, AMDs actually start smoking in a video!

Do you think that AMD processors are better or Intel processors? Here, we aren’t just talking about performance but quality, performance, price and everything. For me, I would choose AMD because it gives quite decent performance, maybe a little less than Intel but it is enough for normal users. The biggest advantage in AMD processors is that it is cheap, much cheaper when compared to Intel processors of same speed. I got myself 2.6 dual core AMD processor but if I had to go for Intel, I would not get more than 2.2 or 2.4.

And making a comparison of an Intel P4 to an AMD is stupid. It depends on what chip you use. P4’s can range from super low (1.5 GHZ) to super high (3.a lot). It also depends on what other kinds of hardware you have in it. The old AMD’s may have been better than Intel (I personally was always an Intel guy, though at the time, I was biased and didn’t actually know anything). I’ve heard that the old AMD’s were better than the old Intels because they had twice as many data pipelines. I think that a Pentium D probably beats the average AMD core, but anything above that and Intel usually takes the cake. I don’t mind if you get an AMD, because unlike Apple, I don’t think that they overcharge and produce sub-par hardware.
